Ransomware protection from GRAU DATA for IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) backups
Schwäbisch Gmünd, 06 October 2022 – GRAU DATA and Cristie Data are now presenting Blocky Ransomware Protection for IBM Spectrum Protect (formerly TSM) for the first time at the GSM conference in Dresden. The Blocky ransomware protection software “Blocky for TSM®” integrates seamlessly into the IBM Spectrum Protect backup solution and offers companies the possibility to integrate Microsoft Windows-based ransomware protection into their backup and recovery strategy.
Blocky reliably protects backup data from being compromised, for example by ransomware, based on GRAU DATA’s long-standing WORM technology. The IBM Spectrum Protect backup data is automatically written to the desired storage medium by Blocky via software WORM and is therefore unchangeable.
To ensure that read and write access is possible for the backup software despite WORM storage, Blocky provides access via a unique fingerprint identification procedure. Only IBM Spectrum Protect has full access to the backups via this secure procedure; all other write access, including that of ransomware, is consistently prevented.
The repository is located on a local block device, for example as an internal disk, FC-LUN, iSCSI-LUN, which is configured as a local volume from the perspective of the Windows operating system.
The Blocky ransomware protection Blocky for TSM® is available immediately via Cristie Data. Detailed information about Blocky for TSM® is available at: https://www.blockyfortsm.com.
If you are an IBM Spectrum Protect user, please contact your system vendor or the distribution team at www.cristie.partners for more information about Blocky for TSM® or to arrange a live demo.
