Goal
Secure access to the images generated by the PACS system (digital x-rays, MR and CT images, etc) for a period of 30 years as well as access to the associated patient administration data which is kept in a central archive.Solution
The existing PACS system can simply be integrated via the open interface of the ARCHIVEMANAGER and then writes the data in parallel to an archive disk, and to tapes stored both locally and remotely. This ensures that all images are available quickly, as and when required, from the archive disk, but are available on tape (locally and in a remote computer center) in the event that the disk fails. The PACS images are saved on a high-performance archive disk (HP EVA system) for five years. Then, for cost-purposes, they are only stored in the two magnetic tape pools until the 30 year period has expired.
